It doesn’t happen very often when we come across a web series where season 2 is more gripping and engaging then 1st one. Maharani Season 2 does this with full swing. The 10-episode web series begins on a very ‘shady’ note and gives its audience a glimpse of bold, politically sharp, confident yet warm Rani Bharti. Once again Huma Qureshi shines as Rani Bharti and makes sure that her audience engages with the character on a deeper level.

If I have to compare Rani Bharti from season 1 to this one in context of Huma’s performance, she has polished her performance, though I loved her work in season 1 as well but this time she has evolved with the character’s arc. Her silence also spoke a thousand words whenever she was on screen. This time, we see Rani engaging with the audience by breaking the fourth wall and it was very well acted. Her glances into the lens were enough to hint upon what our madam Chief minister might be thinking.

I can write a lot about Huma Qureshi but I guess we need to keep that for some other post. Rest of the cast has also done a brilliant job. Each one of them nails their character whenever they come on screen, irrespective of their screen time. The show also has major loopholes which I won’t be writing about (trying to keep it a spoiler free review) but the continuity of the show is so smooth that we the audience kind of forgets about it. The show begins as a political drama and by the end it changes its arc into something different yet convincing. The twists and turns though don’t seem shocking but are something less predictable.

Now, let’s talk about something which a lot of people tend to skip, the intro of the show. Maharani’s intro is something which has a lot of spoilers in it. If we look closely, we get to know a lot of things before we even begin with the show. Also, the theme music of the intro is a piece which sets the mood of the show for me.
